Bosnian international Zvjezdan Misimovic announced his retirement from football on Tuesday.

Speaking to Bosnian media, former Galatasaray midfielder Misimovic, 32, said that it was time to move on and spend more time with his family.

According to Bosnian news portal Klix, Misimovic said, "I said that I could accept any interesting offer after my contract at Guizhou Renhe was going to expire. However, I decided to end my career after discussing with my family."

"After the return from China, I have not trained for four months and in fact I realized that I did not miss the training. This had an impact on ending my career and dedicating myself to my family," he said.

Misimovic scored 25 goals in 84 international appearances in Bosnia.

Starting his professional career in Bayern Munich in 2000, Misimovic played for Bochum, Nurnberg, Wolfsburg, Galatasaray, Dinamo Moscow and Guizhou Renhe. He helped Wolfsburg win the Bundesliga title in the 2008-09 football season.
