Football: 'El Clasico' action in King's Cup final

MADRID

Spanish giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona will go head-to-head on Wednesday to win the much-anticipated King’s Cup final.

The 'El Clasico' -- as any match between the two titans is dubbed -- is set to kick off at 21:30 local time in the Mestella Stadium, Valencia.

The Madrid team will be missing the services of its Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo due to his injury. Brazilian left-back Marcelo will also miss the game.

The Catalan team's backcourt may also appear vulnerable in the match, as centre-back Gerard Pique and goalkeeper Victor Valdes suffered injuries that will have them miss the action in this year’s Copa del Rey (King’s Cup) final.

Having claimed the title 26 times, Barcelona is the most successful team in the history of Copa del Rey, compared with 18 victories clinched by Real Madrid. The Basque region team Athletic Bilbao won the title 23 times.
