ANTALYA (AA) - August 9, 2012 - Antalya Chamber of Pharmacists has called on Italian race walker Alex Schwazer who admitted buying banned substance erythropoietin (EPO), to prove where he bought the drug in Turkey.

"We ask Alex Schwazer to explain which pharmacy he bought this drug from, and under what kind of circumstances he bought it," Antalya Chamber of Pharmacists President Kerem Zabun told AA correspondent on Thursday in an exclusive interview.
Zabun stated that the drugs that contain EPO are checked by the Ministry of Health and the Chamber of Pharmacists all the time, adding that they kept records of entrance and exit of those drugs.
Stating that reaching those kind of drugs was not easy as people said, "With the help of drug tracking system, what time from producer to store, from store to pharmacy the drug has gone can be known. Every phase of it has been monitored. The drugs with EPO cannot be bought at anytime at pharmacies, these are delivered to the pharmacies alternately," said Zabun.
Alex Schwazer was an Italian race walker until August 5th 2012 when he disqualified from the 2012 Summer Olympics in London for use of illegal substances.
Schwazer claimed that he had bought the drug in Turkey in September after which he stored it in the refrigerator he shared with his fiancee.
