Israeli forces detained 19 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank early Thursday over their suspected involvement in clashes with Israeli forces.

The army said in a statement that the Palestinians were arrested in swoops in the cities of Hebron, Bethlehem and in northern West Bank.

Israeli forces also arrested two Palestinians in East Jerusalem overnight, the army said.

The detainees were moved to detention centers run by the internal security agency (Shin Bet) for interrogation, the statement said.

Israeli forces routinely conduct detention campaigns against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank on claims that they are "wanted" by Israeli authorities.

Over 7,000 Palestinians are currently languishing in prisons throughout Israel, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Prisoners' Affairs.
