Turkey's Yakupoglu Textile and Leather Industry company (YDS) won the world's biggest tender for military boots that was conducted by the British Ministry of Defense.

Turkish company wins biggest tender for military boots

ANKARA (AA) - September 5, 2012 - Turkey's Yakupoglu Textile and Leather Industry company (YDS) won the world's biggest tender for military boots that was conducted by the British Ministry of Defense.

YDS won the tender among 47 companies and earned the right to be the official supplier of military boots to the British army in the next four years.
YDS will produce 300,000 pairs of military boots for the British army in exchange for 80 million USD.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), the Executive Board Chairman of YDS, Vedat Yakupoglu said that only a handful of companies in the world had the technology that they were utilizing.
"At the present time, we control 10 percent of the European boot market. Our aim is to dominate one third of the market in the next five years," Yakupoglu also said.
