NEW YORK
All 15 members of the UN Security Council voted "yes" on the resolution which extended the UN observer force in Syria.
Speaking to the press corps following the voting at the UN Security Council, the United States Ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice said that "I do hope Syria uses its last chance wisely".
It was Britain who had suggested that the UN observer force in Syria be extended for an additional 30 days.
The British proposal was revised and eventually accepted by the UN Security Council.
The British proposal left open the possibility of an extension if the Syrian regime gave up using heavy weapons and violence in Syria came down significantly.
Joint UN-Arab League peace envoy for Syria, Kofi Annan, launched a peace plan for Syria in February 2012 to resolve the Syrian uprising diplomatically.
The Annan peace plan enforced a cease-fire to take place across Syria since April 10, 2012, although in reality the cease-fire was announced by the Assad administration on April 14.
