The Kuwaiti cabinet on Monday welcomed a planned visit to the country by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Erdogan is scheduled to arrive in Kuwait on Monday for a two-day visit.

In a statement, the cabinet said the visit would be of special importance in terms of boosting bilateral relations.

According to Kuwait's official news agency, Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait Murat Tamer said Erdogan's talks in Kuwait would focus on economic and trade relations, along with regional and international developments.

He said the volatile regional situation – including developments in Iraq, Yemen, Syria and Libya – would figure high on the agenda of planned talks between Erdogan and Kuwaiti officials.

The Turkish envoy went on to say that a business meeting had been planned for Tuesday during Erdogan's visit, at which bilateral economic cooperation would be discussed.
