Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades was discharged from hospital and returned to his hotel after a prolonged nosebleed on Thursday, his spokesperson said on Twitter.

Anastasiades’s nose started to bleed ahead of the last European Council meeting where EU leaders will discuss energy policy, European economy, Ebola and the situation in Ukraine.

The Greek Cypriot administration announced Tuesday that it would attempt to block Turkey's EU accession talks in response to Ankara's gas exploration in waters off the so-called exclusive Greek Cypriot economic zone.

The administration's spokesperson, Nicos Christodoulides, said Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiades could submit a formal complaint against Turkey during a European Council meeting this week.

Anastasiades will be represented by Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras at the EU Summit, according his government spokesperson.
