"FM Davutoglu's visit to Kirkuk highly important"
ISTANBUL (AA) - August 5, 2012 - The Governor of the Iraqi city of Kirkuk, Necmettin Kerim on Sunday said that Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu's recent visit to their city was highly important.
Releasing a statement on Davutoglu's visit, Kerim said that they supported the visit as the Governorship of Kirkuk.
"Davutoglu's visit to Kirkuk was highly important. Davutoglu emphasized during his visit that Turkey was at an equal distance to all ethnic groups in Kirkuk and Iraq. Davutoglu made an assurance that Turkey would extend support for the development of Kirkuk and Iraq. Turkish companies can play an important role in developing Kirkuk and Iraq," Kerim stressed.
"We have displayed the necessary hospitality to Davutoglu. A visa application was filed with Iraq's Embassy in Ankara for Davutoglu and his delegation. A permission was obtained from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry for Davutoglu's flight," Kerim also said.
Davutoglu was the first Turkish minister to visit Kirkuk in 75 years.
