RAMALLAH, Palestine
Five Palestinians were killed and another 80 injured by Israeli gunfire in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem during the month of August, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) said in a report released Tuesday.
Over the same period, at least 320 Palestinians were detained by the Israeli authorities in Jerusalem, the Israeli-occupied West Bank and the blockaded Gaza strip, according to the report.
The report also said that Israeli authorities demolished 115 Palestinian structures in August on the pretext that they had been built without permission.
The report also cites 230 cases last month – most of which occurred in the northern West Bank – in which Palestinians were the victims of assault by extremist Jewish settlers.
