VIENNA

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has detailed the main sticking points in the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 countries on Tuesday.

Fabius  spoke to the press as he was leaving the Coburg Hotel in Vienna, where the negotiations were taking place.

“The problematic points are the limitation of nuclear research and development, its control, sanctions and their re-establishment,” Fabius told the press.

Fabius stated that France has been insisting on "the possible military dimensions" of Iran's past nuclear work.

The French foreign minister has left for Paris and is scheduled to return to Vienna late Wednesday.

Meanwhile, U.S. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf stated on her official Twitter account that the quality of the agreement was more important than the time it took to reach it.

“We've made substantial progress in every area, but this work is highly technical and high stakes for all of the countries involved,” Harf wrote.

She also stated that U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry would be remaining in Vienna to continue talks.

The P5+1 group, which includes the U.S., U.K., France, China and Russia, plus Germany, have been seeking an unprecedented inspections regime on Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.

The U.S. and its negotiating partners agreed with Iran last week to extend talks to Tuesday, July 7, beyond an end of June deadline.
