The Turkish Foreign Ministry has condemned the bombing outside a mosque in Saudi Arabia during Friday prayers that left four people dead.

"We offer condolences to victims' families and our brother Saudi Arabian people. We reiterate our solidarity with Saudi Arabia in its fight against terrorism," the ministry said in a statement.

According to the official Saudi state news agency SPA, an Interior Ministry spokesman had said that the car blast took place at a mosque park in the city of Dammam.

"The car went off as security forces approached it, killing four people, including a man believed to be the driver," the spokesman said.

Daesh reportedly claimed the attack via its Twitter account.

Last week, Daesh claimed an attack on a Shia mosque in Saudi Arabia’s eastern Qatif province, which left at least 21 people dead.
