Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu met with counterparts Wednesday at a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss terrorism and resolution of regional conflicts.

The OIC’s 42nd Meeting Council of Foreign Ministers started in Kuwait on Wednesday.

The two-day gathering, held under the title "Joint vision to strengthen tolerance and reject terrorism”, is expected to focus on the situation in a number of Islamic countries, including Syria, Yemen and Libya.

The foreign ministers are also expected to discuss the fight against terrorism and the conditions of Islamic communities in non-member states.

Turkish diplomatic sources said Wednesday Foreign Minister Cavusoglu exchanged views with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif over cooperation on regional issues such as the advance of Daesh and the ongoing conflict in Yemen.

Cavusoglu then met with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid al-Sabah. They discussed bilateral and regional cooperation as well as the start of peace negotiations over the Cyprus.

Cavusoglu also met with the foreign minister of Palestine, Riyad al-Maliki, with whom he discussed Turkey's aid to Palestine.

Diplomatic sources said that in a speech at the conference, Cavusoglu reiterated Turkey’s support for a two-state solution in the Palestinian conflict, based on pre-1967 borders.

In his speech, Cavusoglu reportedly touched upon the struggle for survival of Muslim Rohingya in Andaman Sea, calling it a major test for humanity.

The foreign minister also described the Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani territory as a violation of international law.

On Wednesday, Cavusoglu also met with Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, with whom he discussed bilateral and regional issues such as the situation in Syria and Iraq.

Turkey and Saudi Arabia are among a group of countries that agreed to join the effort to train Syrian opposition as a part of the U.S.-led coalition’s effort to combat Daesh.

Cavusoglu exchanged views with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi on the situation of the Muslim Rohingya in the Andaman Sea and on the possible steps that could be taken to end the tragedy.

Thousands of migrants began beaching on Indonesian and Malaysian shores after Thailand launched a crackdown on human trafficking in its southern region on May 1. Malaysia and Indonesia agreed last week to shelter the Rohingya on board -- many of whom faced persecution in Myanmar -- for one year, while repatriating the Bangladeshis.

Cavusoglu also met with Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra, and held a trilateral meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Memmedyarov and Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.

Lastly, Cavusoglu met Afghanistan's current Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani and Yemeni Foreign Minister Riyad Yassin.
