Minister: Turkey's energy projects beyond politics

ISTANBUL

Turkey's Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said political parties should keep in mind that investment in energy projects cannot happen without political stability.

Yildiz spoke Wednesday at the 21st International Energy and Environment Fair and Conference, an event co-sponsored by Anadolu Agency.

He said energy projects need to be eco-friendly in order to leave a better Turkey for upcoming generations.

“Energy markets are sharpened by renewable energy resources,” he said.

Yildiz also said that Turkey's energy market needs to grow faster than the overall economic growth. He added that nuclear power is essential to providing cheaper energy for Turkey.

"Turkey will pay $7.2 billion less for natural gas when nuclear power plants are put into use," Yildiz said.
