Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has accredited for Saturday's presidential polls after three failed attempts to recognize his card.

The card reader was finally able to recognize Jonathan's card after three machines failed to recognize him.

"All I want is credible and peaceful poll. I'm sure the process goes smoothly no matter the challenges," Jonathan told reporters.

"I urge people to exercise patience with the process," he added.

Jonathan's main challenger Muhammad Buhari has been accredited at Kofar Baru 3, Daura local government area of northwestern Katsina in northwestern region.

At least 14 presidential candidates are contesting in Saturday's vote, although either Jonathan and Buhari is tipped to win the high-stake polls.

A presidential candidate must secure at least 50 percent of the total vote cast and mandatory 25 percent of total votes cast in two-thirds of the 36 states.
