BAGHDAD

Five people were killed and 22 others were wounded, including policemen and soldiers, in multiple attacks that rocked Baghdad Saturday, police said.

Mortar strikes targeted Arab Jabour village in al-Doura area in southern Baghdad. One woman was killed and six people were injured in the attack, a police captain told The Anadolu Agency.

Three policemen were wounded in another mortar strike attack that targeted a check point in the same area.

Two soldiers were killed and six others were injured when a roadside bomb targeted their patrol in the Abu Gharib area in western Baghdad.

An improvised bomb exploded near a market place in al-Shab area in northern Baghdad. One person was killed and five others were wounded.

Unknown gunmen killed a civilian in al-Zafaraniya area in southern Baghdad.

Two children were injured when an improvised bomb exploded in al-Maamel area in eastern Baghdad.

Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen wearing black outfits broke into homes in Sadr district in eastern Baghdad. They abducted 22 civilians, including four children and three women, police said. Al-Sadr is a Shiite-majority city.
