British teacher pleads guilty to Syria terror offences

LONDON

 A chemistry teacher has pleaded guilty in the UK to two terrorism offences related to Syria.

At Woolwich Crown Court in London on Monday Jamshed Javeed, 30, from Manchester in the north of England, admitting intending to assist others to commit acts of terrorism and engaging in conduct in preparation for giving effect to his intention.

He was accused of helping nine people to travel to Syria.

Prosecutors said when Javeed was arrested in March this year that he had been planning to travel to the civil-war stricken country to join the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.  

He will be sentenced in December.
