The eighth week of Germany's top league, the Bundesliga, ended on Sunday.

Reigning champions Bayern Munich maintained their lead after hammering Werder Bremen 6-0 on Saturday at the Allianz Arena. Home team Bayern finished the job early by taking a 4-0 lead in the first half.

Bayern skipper, Philipp Lahm, and his fellow teammate Mario Gotze each scored twice; with the other goals being scored by Thomas Muller, from the penalty spot, and Spanish box-to-box midfielder, Xabi Alonso.

At the other end of the table, Borussia Dortmund's poor form continued unabated. The Black and Yellows upset their fans, again, by losing to Koln 2-1 in an away match on Saturday.

Koln took the lead through their German defensive midfielder Kevin Vogt, but away team Borussia Dortmund's striker, Ciro Immobile, duly responded.

Koln striker Simon Zoller, however, had the final word of the game with 16 minutes to go and made it 2-1.

This week's results are as follows:

Bayern Munich 6-0 Werder Bremen

Mainz 05 2-1 Augsburg

Freiburg 1-2 Wolfsburg

Stuttgart 3-3 Bayer Leverkusen

Koln 2-1 Borussia Dortmund
