Azerbaijani soldier reportedly killed by Armenian gunfire
Armenian soldiers launch armed assault in violation of ceasefire, Azerbaijani officials say
BAKU
An Azerbaijani soldier has been killed in a border clash with Armenian forces, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense.
The Armenian soldiers violated a ceasefire by opening fire on the Azeri area and 19-year-old Keramer Sebiyev was killed, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense reported on Tuesday.
The military prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into the incident.
Azerbaijan and Armenia, two former Soviet republics, fought a war over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh between 1988 and 1994.
The two countries signed a ceasefire in 1994, but it has been periodically disrupted by cross-border incidents.
