  • 18:51   (DIP) TURKISH PRESIDENT GUL ATTENDS DINNER HOSTED IN HIS HONOR BY HIS INDIAN COUNTERPART
    Turkish President Abdullah Gul attended a dinner hosted in his honor by Indian President Pratibha Patil in New Delhi on Tuesday.
       Delivering a speech in the dinner, Gul said Turkey and India were among important actors of new order in the world.
       Sound political relations between Turkey and India also contributed to economic relations, he said.
       The two countries should work hard to boost trade volume and mutual investments, Gul said.
       President Gul added there was need for a sound international cooperation in fight against terrorism, energy safety, climate change and fighting financial crises.

  • 18:30   (ECO) ISTANBUL GOLD EXCHANGE -A TOTAL OF 320 KG OF GOLD SOLD IN FIRST AND SECOND SESSIONS
    A total of 320 kg of gold was sold in the first and second sessions at the Istanbul Gold Exchange (IAB) on Tuesday.
       The trading volume in the first and second sessions was 104,155 Turkish liras (TL) on TL-basis in 2 transactions and 10.9 million USD on USD-basis in 19 transactions.

  • 18:06   (DIP) TURKISH PRESIDENT GUL MEETS WITH TURKISH JOURNALISTS IN NEW DELHI
    Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Turkey has been conducting silent diplomacy for a couple of weeks to ease tension due to Iran's stepping up uranium enrichment.
       President Gul had a chat with Turkish journalists who cover his visit to India.
       In regard to his talks in New Delhi, Gul said his talks were fruitful and the two countries were resolute to boost ties.
       Turkey and India attached a great importance to stability and security, he said.
       Replying to questions on Iran's uranium enrichment efforts, Gul said Turkey has been conducting a silent diplomacy and it would keep exerting efforts on the matter to ease tension.
       Answering another question, Gul said India appreciated Turkey's constructive role in its foreign policy and Turkey could contribute to solution of problems between India and Pakistan.
       "There has been a great transformation in Indian economy. Turkish businessmen are excited about great investment projects in this country," he said.
       In regard to Turkey's EU accession process, Gul said while Turkey has been conducting its membership negotiation talks with the EU, it enhanced ties with its neighbors, the Middle East, Russia and Asia.

    Turkish stock market was up by 1.79 percent on Tuesday.
       The Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB) National-100 index rose 892.98 points and closed at 50,826.36 points at the end of second session.
