Israeli soldiers wounded 5 Palestinians on Wednesday as they prevented them from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque due to "Jerusalem Day".
According to local sources, 5 Palestinians were wounded in the clash with Israeli soldiers blocking Muslims' entry with barricades in front of Al-Aqsa.
Palestinian Muslims, barred from entering the mosque, held a protest by performing noon prayer at entrance gates of Al-Aqsa.
Speaking to AA, the head of Al Quds Waqf Council Sheikh Abdel Azeem Salhab stated "Israeli soldiers have been preventing Muslims since yesterday from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque due to "Jerusalem Day". 150 far-right Jews yesterday and 174 today entered the Al-Aqsa yard. Israeli police clubbed and arrested six protesting Muslims."
Sheikh Salhab reminded the detention of Al-Quds mufti Sheikh Mohammad Hussein by Israeli soldiers on Wednesday morning because of his declaration protesting the situation in Al-Aqsa.
"Muslim craftsmen are pulling down the shutters of their shops as they fear Israeli attacks. Israelis will wander on the streets of the old city till dawn. It has become a great tradition since 2000 particularly after Sharon's rule," he said.
Sheikh Salhab added "Israel has its way by ignoring us. Unfortunately, Al-Aqsa is in grief."
