(EÖ-AÇ) - 18:06 (DIP) TURKISH PRESIDENT GUL MEETS WITH TURKISH JOURNALISTS IN NEW DELHI
- Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Turkey
has been conducting silent diplomacy for a couple of weeks to ease tension due to
Iran's stepping up uranium enrichment.
President Gul had a chat with Turkish journalists who cover his visit to
India.
In regard to his talks in New Delhi, Gul said his talks were fruitful and
the two countries were resolute to boost ties.
Turkey and India attached a great importance to stability and security, he
said.
Replying to questions on Iran's uranium enrichment efforts, Gul said Turkey
has been conducting a silent diplomacy and it would keep exerting efforts on the
matter to ease tension.
Answering another question, Gul said India appreciated Turkey's constructive
role in its foreign policy and Turkey could contribute to solution of problems
between India and Pakistan.
"There has been a great transformation in Indian economy. Turkish
businessmen are excited about great investment projects in this country," he
said.
In regard to Turkey's EU accession process, Gul said while Turkey has been
conducting its membership negotiation talks with the EU, it enhanced ties with
its neighbors, the Middle East, Russia and Asia.

- Turkish stock market was up by 1.79 percent on
Tuesday.
The Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB) National-100 index rose 892.98 points and

- Turkey's prime minister held talks with the head
of the Council of Europe in Ankara on Tuesday.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Thorbjorn Jagland,
Secretary General of the Council of Europe, at the Prime Ministry headquarters in
the Turkish capital.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Mevlut Cavusoglu, president of
the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), attended the meeting
as well.

- Turkey's president met with a group of
Turkish citizens living in India and several Indian politicians in New Delhi on
Tuesday.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul got together with a group of Turkish citizens
at his hotel in the Indian capital and listened to their problems.
The first Indian-Turkish dictionary was also promoted during the gathering.
Later in the day, Gul received Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari and
leaders of India's ruling and opposition parties.
Gul's meetings with Indian politicians were closed to press.
(DO-AÇ) - 17:16 (GEN) COUNTER-NARCOTICS OPERATIONS THROUGHOUT TURKEY
- Turkish security forces
seized a total of 28.5 kg of hashish and 25.7 kg of heroin and detained 25 people
during the operations waged in several provinces on Tuesday.
In simultaneous operations conducted in the central Anatolian province of
Konya, northwestern province of Kirklareli, western province of Usak and southern
provinces of Adana and Mersin, security teams confiscated 15 kg of hashish and
detained 22 people.
During an operation waged in the southern province of Adana, police found 10
kg of hashish in a passenger bus and arrested one person.
Moreover, 3.5 kg of hashish was seized in northwestern Edirne province and
one person was detained.
Security forces also confiscated 25.7 kg of heroin in an operation in
Gurpinar town of the eastern province of Van and detained one person in
connection with the incident.

(EÖ-AÇ) - 17:14 (GEN) TURKISH ENERGY MINISTER MEETS GERMAN BUSINESSMEN IN ANKARA
- Turkish energy minister said on Tuesday that
Germany would become one of the most important partners of Turkey in the area of
energy.
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz had a meeting with German
businessmen over a luncheon hosted by German Ambassador to Turkey Eckart Cuntz in
Ankara.
Yildiz said German companies who attended the meeting had a turnover of
nearly half a trillion U.S. dollars.
"Turkey and Germany have a similar primary energy structure. The two
countries don't have natural gas and oil, but they have coal. Turkey and Germany
can cooperate in this area," he said.
In his part, Cuntz said that there were several German companies which were
eager to invest in the area of energy in Turkey.
Cuntz said such meetings should be held regularly to make Turkish-German
cooperation lasting.

(UK-AÇ) - 16:55 (DIP) TURKISH FM ON ARMENIAN PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE TO TURKISH COUNTERPART
- Turkey's foreign minister said on Tuesday that
the letter sent by Armenian President Serzh Sargsian to his Turkish counterpart
Abdullah Gul was a routine message sent by leaders while flying over Turkish
territory.
Foreign ministers of Turkey, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia met at a
trilateral consultancy meeting and afterwards held a joint press conference in
the Turkish capital of Ankara.
Replying to questions at the conference, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet
Davutoglu confirmed that Armenian President Sargsian sent a routine letter to
Turkish President Abdullah Gul and added, "Mr. Sargsian has expressed his
positive wishes in his message".
Upon a question on whether he would travel to Iran soon, Davutoglu said he
would pay a visit to this country next week.
"We would like to hold comprehensive talks during our visit. We do not want
to lose the positive momentum achieved in diplomacy," he said.
In his reply to a question on the conflict between Serbia and Kosovo,
Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said such issue was a political matter
coming from history, adding that his country would never accept a unilateral
declaration of independence.
Jeremic said Serbia would not accept such declarations by the local
administrations in Kosovo, however, it supported a solution that would be
acceptable for all the parties.
Upon a question on the separation demand of the Serbians in Bosnia, Turkish
Minister Davutoglu said that Bosnia's territorial integrity was the basic
principle for the UN and all international organizations.
Davutoglu said the negotiations between the ethnical groups in Bosnia should
be carried out in accordance with the principles of territorial integrity and
irrevocability of the borders.
Expressing the importance of the decision to appoint ambassadors between
Bosnia and Serbia, Davutoglu said such a development would contribute to peace
between the Bosnians and Serbians living in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Commenting on the separation demand of the Serbians living in Bosnia as
well, Serbian Minister Jeremic said his country had full respect for the
territorial integrity of Bosnia and all other UN-member states.
Jeremic said problems should be solved through dialogue and talks between
representatives of the three nations in Bosnia and within the framework of the
Bosnian constitution.

Delivering a brief speech at the meeting, Erdogan said Bosnia-Herzevogina's
decision to send an ambassador to Serbia was a pleasing one.

Herzegovina-Serbia trilateral consultancy meeting in Ankara.

departed from the British capital of London on Tuesday.

- Turkish State Minister Zafer Caglayan visited the
trade shows of "Texworld" and "Premiere Vision" as part of his visit to Paris.
Some 70 Turkish firms take part in the Texworld fair and products of 70
Turkish firms are on display in the Premiere Vision trade show.
Caglayan held brief talks with representatives of participating firms.
Caglayan is currently in France to attend the ongoing "Turkish Season"
activities in Paris.
The Turkish Season activities began in France in July with a show of the
"Fire of Anatolia" dance group. The event aims at promoting Turkey in France with
nearly 400 artistic and cultural activities in more than 70 cities for nine
months.

TECHNOLOGICAL COOPERATION
- Turkey and India issued joint declarations on
combating terrorism and scientific & technological cooperation during Turkish
President Abdullah Gul's visit to India.
The declaration on fighting against terrorism said that terrorism was a big
threat against global peace and security, noting that terrorism could not be
associated with any religion, nation, civilization or ethnic group.
Turkey and India confirmed their common commitments in combating terrorism
and these commitments constituted an important part of efforts of the
international community aiming to eliminate terrorism, it said.
The declaration said the two countries have decided to boost cooperation in
fight against terrorism.
The other declaration said Turkey and India are eager to boost cooperation
in the areas of science and technology.
It said the two countries would encourage and promote relations between
representatives from technology sectors of the two countries.
Joint seminars, scientific conferences, workshops and joint research
projects would be held between Turkey and India, it said.

- Members of the Turkish Parliamentary Foreign
Affairs Committee travelled to Sweden for a formal visit on Tuesday.
Members of the committee, led by chairman Murat Mercan, will be received by
Swedish Parliament Speaker Per Westerberg and the country's Minister of
International Development & Cooperation Gunilla Carlsson as part of their visit.
Turkish lawmakers will also meet with Goran Lennmarker, the head of Swedish
parliament's committee on foreign affairs, and Anna Kingberg, the chairperson of
the parliament's committee on EU affairs during their stay in Sweden.
