British envoy praises Turkey for sheltering Syrians

ADIYAMAN

United Kingdom's Ambassador in Ankara David Reddaway said on Friday, "There is no possibility to come to a decision in the UN in regards to the Syria issue due to the blockage of two countries. I believe this to be a very big mistake."

Ambassador Reddaway visited the tent city in Adiyaman where the Syrians are housed.
Reddaway stated that he wanted to visit the Syrians who fled from the oppression of the Assad regime and said he was very impressed with the works carried out by Turkish authorities.
"I'm pleased to see that the Syrians in the tent city have taken education and developed their handcraft. I'm also impressed and pleased to see the relief material sent by the United Kingdom being used here. The Turkish government has taken on a great administrative and financial burden to support the Syrians. I'd like to state that Turkey is not alone and the UN institutions try to provide as much help as possible via the EU," Reddaway said.
Reddaway said that the United Kingdom donated 400 million dollars to Syrians as well as 600 thousand foodstuffs and 80 thousand medical aid.
Upon being asked to evaluate "UN's efforts in regards to the civil war in Syria," Reddaway said, "We try our best, we don't allow arms support to the Assad regime. The biggest problem is the blockage of the two countries in the UN. This results in the deepening of the crisis."
