Qassam says fired 3 rockets fired at Tel Aviv

GAZA CITY

The Ezzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Palestinian resistance faction Hamas, said it fired three rockets at Israel's Tel Aviv Saturday morning.

Israel has yet to comment on the Brigades' announcement.

Gaza-based resistance factions continue to fire rockets at Israeli cities, in response to a devastating Israeli offensive which has left over 1644 Palestinians – mostly civilians – dead and 8850 injured within less than a month.

A 72-hour humanitarian ceasefire that started at 8:00am (0500 GMT) on Friday fell apart a short time later when Israel resumed its strikes against the southern Rafah city.

Israel said it did not abide by the ceasefire after one of its army units was attacked in the southern part of Gaza, accusing Hamas of violating the ceasefire.

The Israeli army said later that one of its troops was abducted, while two other troops were killed.

The truce was mediated by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and United States Secretary of States John Kerry. Israel and the Palestinians should have sent negotiators to discuss a durable ceasefire in the Egyptian capital Cairo.

The movement has denied any role in abducting the Israeli soldier.
