Turkey's state-run lender makes Bosnia center
SARAJEVO (AA) - August 6, 2012 - Turkey's state-owned Ziraat Bankasi is set to open more branches in Bosnia-Herzegovina to make the country an operation center for the Balkans, the bank's director general told the Anadolu Agency.
Huseyin Aydin said Ziraat Bosnia was planning to open 14 new branches in the region to bring the number up to a total of 21 in Kosovo, Montenegro and in parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina with overwhelming Serbian and Croatian populations.
"And our bank in Bosnia will be the center for our investments in the entire Balkans. We will direct all of our operations from here," Aydin said.
"We attached great importance to formerly-Ottoman regions. And our goal is to be one of the top three banks in this region," Aydin said.
