Anti-global activists protest Davos forum with snowmen

DAVOS, Switzerland

Anti-globalization activists have made 193 snowmen in the Swiss town of Davos to protest the World Economic Forum.

About one-meter-tall snowmen represent all nations in the world.

Members of the World Economic Forum have long held that their stated aim of meeting annually is to "improve the state of the world."

But protesters say the meetings are secretly aimed at promoting the agendas of corporations and lobbies at the expense of global citizenry.

Protestors gathered in Davos on Saturday, on the last day of the forum, to highlight poverty, inequality and climate change.

They also drew attention to Mexico's 43 missing students and the public flogging of Saudi blogger Raif Badawi.

Forty-three students went missing last September after clashing with police during a student protest in the southern Mexican town of Iguala.

The protesters were carrying banners saying "World Exploitation Forum" and "Stop the Flogging."
