ISTANBUL

The number of passengers flying with Turkey’s national flag carrier, Turkish Airlines, has increased by 13.7 percent during this year’s first ten months, compared to the same period last year.

According to Turkish Airlines' Public Disclosure Platform, the airline witnessed a 13.9 percent increase in the number of passengers on domestic destinations and a 13.6 increase of passengers on international flights, compared to the same January to October period last year.

The total number of passengers flying with Turkish Airlines was 46.2 million from January to October this year, indicating a 13.7 increase compared the 40.6 million passengers who travelled with the airline during the same period last year.

The airlines did not notice a change in the passenger occupancy rate, which remained at 79.5 percent.

The available seat kilometers performance -- a measure of an airline flight's passenger carrying capacity -- increased by 16.9 percent and reached 113.1 billion.

Turkish Airlines also recorded 90 billion in revenue passenger-kilometers -- a measure of the volume of passengers carried by an airline -- from January to October this year, representing a 16.9 percent increase from the previous year.

Turkey’s national flag carrier now flies to 261 cities around the world, including 43 domestic cities.

The company continues to aim to become one of the world’s leading five-star airlines, by increasing its service quality and maintaining a healthy financial structure focused on profitable growth.

Customers voted Turkish Airlines as Europe’s Best Airline each year from 2011 to 2014.
