The Anadolu Agency's fourth war journalism training program comes to an end on Friday.

Conducted by the agency’s news academy and the Turkish police academy, the program includes personal security; the laws of war; first aid; advanced driving; survival in water; dealing with explosives; chemical and biological attacks; and hostage-taking.

Participants are given experience of dealing with smoke and tear gas grenades.

Theoretical and practical courses are provided by police and Turkish armed forces training personnel in Ankara.

As part of the program, journalists camped in the mountains of Ankara province for a night and learned surviving in water at the Kesikkopru Dam.

Dealing with booby-traps as well as ordnance such as hand grenades, land mines and ammunition also forms part of the course.

On Thursday, the participants will be instructed in first aid and on Friday they will receive a lecture on terrorism, refugees and immigration.

The Anadolu Agency News Academy aims to provide a world standard certification program. The War Journalism program lasts for 11 days and includes 82 hours of training, 42 of which are practical lessons.

At the end of the program, successful participants receive internationally recognized certificates.

The trainees also learned natural disaster survival techniques from Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).
