GAZA, Palestine 

Anadolu Agency awarded journalists working in its Gaza office for their performance during the 51-day Israeli offensive against Gaza on Wednesday.

Speaking at the ceremony held in Gaza, under the auspices of the Anadolu Agency Director General Kemal Ozturk, the agency’s Gaza representative Yasir al-Banna said that the “Anadolu Agency, through the efforts of its employees in Gaza, were able to successfully convey to the world the Israeli attacks against Gaza and the Palestinian people.”

Al-Banna focused on the additional work of the Gaza journalists, and said that they generated 9,662 media products during the Israeli offensive, including 2,300 news items, 6,900 photos and 462 videos.

Al-Banna honored the Anadolu Agency Gaza cameraman Enes Ebu Muaylik, who was injured in an Israeli attack, and who was successfully treated in Turkey. 

Al-Banna presented the certificates of honor to the journalists and extended Anadolu Agency CEO Kemal Ozturk's appreciation for their great efforts shown on duty while operating in a dangerous region during the Israeli offensive.

The Israeli offensive against Gaza and the Palestinian enclave began on July 7 and lasted 51 days which resulted in the deaths of  2,151 Palestinians, including 579 children during the Israeli air and ground offensive. 

Over the same period, at least 72 Israelis – 67 soldiers and five civilians – were killed, according to Israeli figures.
