Turkish basketballer to join NBA's Philadelphia 76ers

ANKARA

The Philadelphia 76ers are set to sign Galatasaray Liv Hospital's former Turkish center Furkan Aldemir Monday. 

ESPN said Sunday that the 23-year-old star agreed to a $12 million four-year contract with the 76ers.

Aldemir was first released by Galatasaray Liv Hospital in order to join the NBA.

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers as the 53rd overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, then traded with the Houston Rockets and most recently joined the 76ers. 

Standing at 6 ft 9 in, Aldemir plays both as a center and a power forward.
