USA show Serbia no mercy in Basketball World Cup final

MADRID 

USA have blown Serbia out by 129-92 in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup final clash in Madrid.

Widely known as the "Dream Team", USA snatched victory against Balkan side Serbia in the first two quarters on Sunday night thanks to the efforts of both guards, Kyrie Irving and James Harden reaching double digits in the points section.

The first half ended with an extravagant score in favor of Team USA, 67-41.

In the remaining period USA did not strain themselves and got a comfortable win.

Cleveland Cavaliers' point guard Irving was the top scorer of the game, achieving 26 points, followed by Houston Rockets' shooting guard Harden scoring 23 points.

Denver Nuggets' forward Kenneth Faried, Golden State Warriors' shooting guard Klay Thompson, his fellow teammate Stephen Curry, Toronto Raptors' guard DeMar DeRozan, Sacramento Kings' forward Rudy Gay and center DeMarcus Cousins reached double digits each in the points section.

Meanwhile, Serbia tried to resist their powerful opponents with Fenerbahce Ulker forward Nemanja Bjelica completing the showdown with 18 points and his teammate from Fenerbahce Ulker, shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, having 15 points.

Serbian small forward Nikola Kalinic became one of the top scorers for his team as he scored 18 points. 

CSKA Moscow genius Milos Teodosic made a 10-point and seven assist contribution.

US guard Kyrie Irving was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
