Turkish team to open Bosnian basketball tournament

SARAJEVO

A Turkish team is to open a memorial tournament in Bosnia's capital Saturday that honors the first head coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina basketball team. 

Turk Telekom - a professional basketball based in Ankara which currently plays in the Turkish Basketball League - will played local team KK Bosna at 18.30 (GMT + 2:00) on September 13 in Sarajevo in the 10th international "Mirza Delibasic" basketball tournament that runs until Sunday.

Delibasic is widely considered one of the best shooters in the history of European basketball and was enshrined into the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2007.

In 2008 Delibasic was also named one of the 50 Greatest Euroleague Contributors.

He died in Sarajevo on December 8, 2001 at the age of 47.

His number 12 shirt is to be retired and will be on display in the "Mirza Delibasic" tournament hall.
