Turkey lose to Ukraine 64-58 in the 2014 Basketball World Cup
ANKARA
Turkey lost to Ukraine 64-58 in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup Group C game played in Bilbao on Tuesday.
Turkish center Omer Asik's 'double-double' effort (16 points, 20 rebounds) was not enough to defeat Ukraine.
The performance by 22-year-old Ukrainian point guard Olexandr Mishula was key to win the game as he scored 19 points, shooting with 62.5 percent accuracy (5/8) from behind the 3-point line. Igor Zaytsev added 12 points and 5 rebounds.
With two losses against the United States and Ukraine, and a win against New Zealand so far, Turkey are not out of the tournament. They face Finland on Wednesday. The game in Bilbao will tip off at 1530GMT.
